This weekend didn’t turn out the way I envisioned it a few days ago.

While my officemates are excited with their upcoming vacation (may it be Bohol, Palawan or maybe Boracay), I was planning a weekend or two of having to lounge around at home and/or the mall with my Dearest or my friends. Oh, and yeah, my friends and I were planning to go to EK to. A childhood wish that was postponed ever since we last went there.

Due to work schedules, we had to postpone the EK trip to another date. No bitterness here, as it didn’t seem right to go to Laguna with an empty car seat. Happiness minus one (or two) was never an option for us in the first place.

Bitterness came when I was issued a ticket for an honest mistake.

Instead of EK, we opted to go to Mall of Asia instead. It has been a long time since I set foot on the monumental shopping grounds and Pam and Michelle had never been there since it first opened. I offered the car and my driving services so that we can get there early. “EDSA would be free and smooth-sailing on Saturdays,” I thought. So I turned right to Ortigas from Libis and managed to turn left to EDSA while the light was still green…

However, I was pulled over by two MMDA officers saying that I entered the Bus lane.

Never mind the fact that the signs were so confusing it was almost impossible to see if the road is still open or fenced shut. I still entered the wrong lane.

It also didn’t matter that he private vehicle lane and the Bus lane will merge a few meters away PLUS there are no buses in sight. I still entered the wrong lane.

Besides, according to the MMDA, lane segregation is there to prevent road accidents. If you ask me, I’d rather they have the roads segregated from the raging motorcycles.

I did promise to become a law-abiding citizen especially way back in Grade school/Highschool when we recite the “Panatang Makabayan” every week of our lives. And I don’t have any problems with the MMDA officers, either. Save for the fact that they gave me the ticket, they were easy to talk to and were kind enough to give us directions on not to be caught anymore.

What bugs me are the traffic rules I supposedly broke. It is an inch away from being stupid and reading their PSAs are even more dangerous than actually entertaining a call on your cellphone. Driving is enough chore and attention-grabbing as it is. Also, this “rule” might not apply a year from now. And if it does, I just end up being a victim of circumstance and a P500 ticket.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ll still pay the fine. I guess I should avoid EDSA for now.

I find it really strange when writer’s block strikes whenever I can write something and the sudden flow of topics to write about congest my brain at the worst possible time.

A few months back, I was struggling to access my wordpress dashboard so I could write down all the interesting topics in my head. After that domain transfer drama I just had, I seemed to have lost all thoughts completely. I tried to piece them together but the details were lacking and I couldn’t remember how I’ve constructed them back then.

I really wish I could have a recorder/transcriber for brain impulses. Things would be much easier with them.

While tracing back my thoughts for a better entry, I took the liberty of changing the site layout again. WPUnlimited is super nice and flexible with all the customization tools (SEO included) but I just didn’t have the time to improvise a design other than the bare white and violet. With the new Illacrimo theme and flickrRSS plugin plus flickr badge, SBS looks more sleek and organize.

The new design may not drive the writer’s block away but it did bring pleasing aesthetics. As it should, whenever you’re redecorating your home… or on this case, your personal soapbox. =)

Perfectionism kicking in, perhaps? Maybe. *Sigh* I miss wrting. It is the best way to straighten out my thoughts. Talking is not much of a help as it get things more messy. Although, I wouldn’t mind having random conversations over coffee.

I think I have a few drafts and outlines hidden somewhere in my computer. Not to mention a few good ideas to keep this blog going. Should I just start with a new design to get things started? Or maybe impose a deadline or a goal? Hmmm…

Note: This entry is really not cohesive seeing as I really have no time to edit them or exert much effort on a single theme entry. Read at your own risk.

It’s evening already? Just a few minutes of rest and relaxation before another day of work tom? aaargh.

Speaking of work, I have to catch up on a lot of things. Inexperience bites. But of course, I am not the one to give in and I will find a way to get over the learning curve and fast. There are moments of utter disappointment and inadequacy, though. Having gone through tons of those doesn’t necessarily mean it gets less depressing.

I want to eat. Depression always leave me craving for good food, particularly Japanese. I don’t know why exactly. I just know that eating a California maki or two ( or three ) with ebi tempura will never fail to lift one’s spirit (especially when you have a support group eating with you ). Didn’t I used to eat at T-boy almost every week during thesis time? No wonder I got fat.

Ha! Fat. I am getting fat. Not fat fat. But fat enough to not be blamed for when I start getting sick again. Come to think of it, they’re right anyway. The ‘thin’ phase brought a lot ailments.. and it wasn’t pretty. But getting too fat could be a problem too. I need to workout. But work always get in the way. I could buy a pair of dumbells this weekend.

Weekend! The only time for r and r… oh wait, scratch that. I still have ECE board exam review. Good thing I have a few batchmates who could relate to the extreme difficulty of juggling work (which would determine how well you’ll live for now) and board review ( which can work for you… two years from now. otherwise, it’s really unnecessary ). I just hope reading review materials is somewhat enough to compensate for my absences. I didn’t get to attend last weekend because…

… of the section team building! That was fun. I wish work was like that all the time (ha! asa!). I wish there were more outings and gimmicks with friends and officemates. Bowling with my office batchmates was a blast. And Avenue Q with Team Sugoi is memorable. Speaking of musicals, I am considering buying tickets for Cinderella. Although I am having second thoughts because of the steep ticket prices. Even if I get the cheapest ticket, there is no complete certainty that Lea will be performing. Who knows? I might pay a lot of money to see an understudy. No offense to the understudy, though. But personally, I’d rather see a good movie if Lea would not be performing.

Movies are always a great alternative to musicals. Which reminds me, this weekend is marked for yet another movie marathon with the Dearest. Weeeeee. A four more days to go and we get to go out again!

Wait. Four more days? It’s Tuesday already??? Graaaaah. Work again! ~.~

Korean baby singing ‘Hey Jude’ video entry: DELETED

I decided to keep it that way even though my initial reason was to restore the website layout as seen in Firefox.

Sure, the baby is uber cute as he sings the famous Beatles’ song almost perfectly. And yes, I am a sucker for cute babies (cute li’l stuffed toy piggies included — see previous entry). I just remembered that this video was uploaded without the baby’s full and all-knowing consent. Who knows? After a decade or two, he might have died in sheer embarassment… unless he turned out to be a big rock star. Hopefully, he would consider it as a good laugh and not scorn his parents forever.

In my weird (borderline obsessive) fixation on my (hopefully near) graduation, I realized this is going to be the last Christmas season I’ll have before I finish my degree. So in true student spirit, or at least mine, I end up scouring any free time I have for studying.

It’s a good thing that at least children will always be excited during this time of year. I guess the wonders of Christmas are demystified once you hit 12… and then crushed at 18. After all, gifts and aguinaldo depreciate exponentially with age and you have to make sure you’re not a godparent as well. Decorations, food and gifts always demand time, energy and money and traffic is just horrible anywhere. And if you are an errand runner or kitchen personnel like the older kids, it would be forever before you have any lounging time to spend on books and in my case: soldering materials, readings and thesis.

Although, I have been wishing to commemorate this last-Christmas-season-before-graduation with something. Right now, all I can do is catch up on the latest episodes of House and some movies I have been dying to see. Regular sleep is also on top of my list too. Once January starts, who knows how many hours of sleep I can manage.

Oh well, this little pleasures should do as of the moment. Besides, I could easily do other exciting things AFTER I graduate (I just hope I have my license by then ). Cheesy as it sounds, as long as you have family, friends and a loved one to share it with, Christmas is complete. Hopefully, other people would be just as content.

Merry Christmas to everyone! Â

A blogging hiatus for almost two months is not a good sign, even for an occasional blogger like me.

Of course like the others, neglecting this blog has never been intentional. Life just always get in the way of comforting leisure. Which has been the occurring trend nowadays…

No, I am not here to rant about how pathetic dorm life is with a non-existent internet connection or tons of academic work that seems to be piling up. Heck, I don’t even want to dive into the details of my poor time management skills down to the ‘reserved’ planner which I might be getting really late (with added charge to boot). Because, sometimes I really think that needless ranting is unfair to those who are going through much harder sh*t. Not to mention the complete waste of time, and internet bandwidth.

I just want to reaffirm my existence here in cyberspace. And actually do something unrelated to what I usually do.
